Baptism

The birth of a child is a joyous and life-changing event for parents. The rebirth of a child through the sacrament of Baptism is a time for celebration on the part of the entire Church.   The decision to have your baby baptized is a true commitment on the part of the parents to raise their child in the Catholic faith with the support of our entire Parish Community.

Reconciliation

Tuesday: Holy Hour 6:00 -7:00 pm, with Confessions 6:05-6:50 pm
Saturday: 3:00 -3:45 pm

Communal Reconciliation services are held during Advent and Lent.
Second-grade children celebrate their First Reconciliation in the fall prior to First Communion.

First Communion

The pinnacle of our initiation into the Catholic Church occurs when we are first welcomed to the table of the Lord to share in His Body and Blood. For those baptized as infants or young children, this typically occurs in the 2nd grade.

Preparation for First Holy Communion takes place in one of two contexts. If your 2nd grader attends St. Mary School, they will receive their sacramental preparation classes within their regularly scheduled religion class.

If your child does not attend St. Mary School, they will receive their sacramental formation through our Family of Faith, family-based faith formation program.  Register for Family of Faith below.

Because all sacraments are celebrations of the entire faith community, our children receive the Eucharist for the first time at our regular Sunday liturgies on a weekend in the Easter Season.

Confirmation

St. Mary School students prepare for their confirmation during their religious education classes during the school day.  Confirmation preparation is also available through the Family of Faith Program.  Catholic adults who have not been confirmed or baptized should contact the church office at 321-1207.

Holy Matrimony

The Roman Catholic wedding is a ceremony rich in tradition. It is also a celebration and a blessed covenant by which a man and a woman establish a partnership for the whole of their lives. The Church offers this sacred opportunity to join with family and friends as you unite yourselves in marriage to God, the creator of all love, joy, and happiness. We at the Eastside Family of Parishes provide assistance and guidance to help engaged couples begin their journey to a loving and grace-filled married life.

Those interested in learning more about scheduling a wedding, registering for marriage preparation, or having a civil marriage convalidated in the Catholic Church can contact Haley Wolfe or visit our Eastside Family website.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which interested adults and children 7 years of age and older are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life.  We welcome you to join us on our faith journey.

Sacrament of the Sick

“Are any among you sick?  They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14)

St. Mary celebrates the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick on Saturday at the 4:00 p.m. Mass during the Easter Season.  This is a sacrament of faith, hope, and healing.  It is intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness.  Any of the faithful who are suffering from a serious sickness or with the struggles of aging are eligible to receive this sacrament.  We are reminded that through Anointing of the Sick, we share in the suffering of Jesus and in the powerful promise of his Resurrection.

Individuals who wish to receive this sacrament may make arrangements at any time. Parishioners scheduled for surgery are encouraged to celebrate this sacrament at a weekday liturgy before they go to the hospital.   Contact the church office at 513-321-1207.
